My Thoughts
My Thoughts
I think it isn't fair to the Mexicans because you cant just push someone off their land the way they did. After they helped them settle down and let you ruin their land by accepting to have to war and after they helped you fight, taught you new ways.. you treat them like that ? Even if you won 5 million wars, no one deserves to be treated like that and especially not them after all they've done for you. A brighter and better idea would've been to consult and communicate with them and find a better deal or solution that would've been fair instead of thinking it was fate, destiny, and Gods choice.
The Mexican-American War
The Mexican-American War
The Mexican-American war lasted in between 1846-1848. The Mexican-American war was caused by 3 main things. One of them was Manifest Destiny. Manifest Destiny is the belief of the Americans that it was fate and God’s choice to expand west to the Pacific Coast. They felt obligated to expand. They thought they justified it seeing as they won the war.
Another motivation to war was because of Texas Annexation by the United States. In 1845 the congress had approved and the U.S. annexed Texas, it was acknowledged as the 28th state in December. They hoped by the incorporation that the republic’s financial and military problems will be resolved. Mexico detested and was furious by this and responded by eliminating all political connections with the U.S.
The last reason of why the war started was because of Boundary Dispute. Texas
and U.S. believed that the Rio Grande symbolizes the southern border of Texas
but the Mexican government believed that the real southern border is the Nueces
River. They disagreed with each other.
The Mexican-American war is important to west ward expansion
because it was a huge part of it. They expanded a lot and grew larger.
